Slugs are endangered!!!!

Prepare!! It’s the slug invasion! Not that some radioactive slug or invasion of them are coming our way soon. Only to eat all of the salad and basil of the world, thus making pizza sauce super expensive, or causing the all you can eat salad bar to get to a point of going out of business because of the competition by salad eating radioactive slugs! No! But leave it to hollywood and some bad “B” rated movie from the 1950 and this could be a fact of life. Just when art mimics true life! I find that true life should be questioned, or at least some of the people in it! You know the ones I’m talking about I’m sure. Ya, these people who feel so bad about themself’s that they hate modern society. Because of their motivations of  trying to make themself’s feel so much better. They take on the responsibility’s of correcting all of the wrongs that they see in world! So here we are once again with the slug like people who need a feel good cause! Who are now claiming slugs are endangered!

Even if slugs are endangered are they of greater importance than the life and lifestyles of humans? According to the “Center of Biological Diversity” slugs are endangered or at least 26 different species of them in the pacific northwest. So what? What do slugs bring to our life’s experience, much like other furry animals do? I see the spotted owl of the northwest also who is on the endangered species list, who lives in the old growth forest as having an environmental impact by keeping rodent population under control. But the slug, what do they do exactly?

Tierra Curry spokes person for the Center of biological diversity ( A group of environmentalist, Who have also been known for placing environmental causes of greater importance over human causes.) have partitioned the government for protection of 32 different species of slugs and snails. Saying ” some little-known organisms are known from only a single site that could be wiped out.” According to an interview with the Oregonian, piece on March 13/ 2008.

On October 4/2011 the east Oregonian, reports “that 26 species including the Dusky snail, need protection under the endangered species act.” But no one from the Center of biological Diversity group has said just what these animals bring to life’s experience worth protecting? Just what job do they do in the environment that can not be done by other species. Last check there are plenty of snails or slugs to go around for everyone. Some times to a point of having to put slug bate down to protect our gardens from these slow-moving yet sneaky marauders.

I’m not one of those humans that likes the ideas of ruinous unchecked human activates, like stripping the forests without concern of replanting them, or restoring the impact we make by logging. I think that management of the environment is the responsibility we have. Thus we have to make some decisions of who, and how, and what!? What are we going to do? What kind of  things will we do, so as to help society, with responsable harvesting of the forest or minerals? But the environmental groups of today are of the opinion that human activities should be controlled to a point of placing the environments importance above human concerns.

What if we were in a time warp paradox, and slugs and snails were the dominant species and humans were the endangered. Would they take up the concern of human survival? Would they have an environmental protection agency? Prehaps a center of biological diversity? After all, we as humans do help the slugs, snails environments. We plant thousands of acres of tender salads, and greens, landscaping flowers and plants that seem like “the all you can eat restaurants” for these slow-moving marauders. we provide imitation rain by way of sprinklers systems, leaving the slugs and snails quite at home and comfortable during the summer months and times of drought.

I’m sure these slow-moving slugs and snails would want to study us, while deciding the impact to their life. We certainly bring value to them and their life’s. If we were left to go the way of the dinosaurs who would plant those great eatables? Who would maintain the artificial rain makers? These could be some of the arguments presented in favor of human kind I’m sure? But then there could be, some who would argue that humans are nothing more than mass murders, placing slug and snail bait out in order to kill them. What about those dangerously sadistic humans who place salt on them to see them melt away into a puddle of slime. Besides humans cutting down trees and do their best to rearrange nature to suit there needs. Could human be trusted or be saved? This could be the counter argument made by the slug and snail council on human relations. Would these animals have the power to over come their own disgust of humans to have a willingness to protect us?

The way I see it. But I’m a human, so bias to human causes. We bring more to the table for the slug and snail survival, then if there were a paradox, and the snails or the slugs were deciding on their own willingness to protect humans survival or not in their world.

If as humans we feel the need to save the slugs, snails, or alike? Then let us raise moneys. Not from the government! They waste enough money on studying cocaine used by monkey’s. But privet moneys to make a slug and snail zoo! I’m begging you! Please!  But who wouldn’t like to go to that zoo, without a bag of salt?

It is more of a predictable deluge of ignorance from the popular misguided views of those that are just on razors edge of insane. Along with the non-native politicians who remind me more of radioactive slugs and snails. Who feast on Coors-beer as an overindulgence, along with human society’s end trails. Who have little concern with anything else other than itself. If left alone will devour entire human civilizations, replacing it with the kind of toxic aftermath of unmanageable political economic slime trails. But like a radioactive slug and snail infestation in the “B” rated movie. Some humans do survive, to dig out from under the toxic slime trails. Is that when life is good? Is protecting the slugs, and snails of this world at humankind’s experience, the best it can be?

The French would say “Escargots anyone?”

That’s it! Send them to France! Don’t forget the totally insane environmentalist, and their politicians as well!!!

All the best!

    • Thanks for the read of my post. I’m not wishing for the slugs or snails to be saved. But the human jobs should be saved. People would like to shut down the loging industry do to the indangered so called like slugs and snails. But seem funny because most people do not like these things ( slugs and snails). So I had some fun about the story and the thought of saving some sluge when there is so many of them. Smiles.
      All the best!

  2. I’m sorry, but I honestly can’t read all of this because of the pictures. Slugs creep me out so much. My family would all throw salt on them when I was younger because we hated them so much. We’d never heard another living species, but slugs are different. Vile, vile creatures. Will finish reading this as soon I get over my phobia.
